Day 6 (10 December 2015) Okavango Delta

Okavango Delta Excursion continued.

The first night in the Delta was quite something. We had thunder and lightning with some rain. Once that stopped one could hear all the animal sounds. The frogs were the most harmless but then there was cracking in the bush and lions roaring. And in the tent next to ours was Stefan snoring. Carla slept right through everything while I was kept awake hoping the sun would rise!

At about 6am we woke, had some coffee and rusks and went for a bush walk. After 2 hours we were back at camp being awaited with a big breakfast. It was very hot and the kids were longing to swim. We found a nice shallow spot without any crocodiles and spent the afternoon in the Okavango River. In the late afternoon we enjoyed another mokoro ride and had sundowners on an island in the Okavango Delta. That was such a beautiful setting - unbelievable!

Back at camp dinner was already prepared. We always had starter, main course and desert and that in the bush with the frog music. Tonight I slept much better!

Day 5 (9 December 2015) Okavango Delta Excursion

The vehicle took us from Sitatunga camp to the Mokoro station. Here we met our polers, got into the Mokoros and a 2 hour mokoro trip got us to our campsite for the next 2 nights.
At camp the tents were already set up for us and we enjoyed our lunch in the bush. In the afternoon we went on our first bush walk. We bathed in the Delta (at a safe spot without crocodiles!) and enjoyed a traditional dinner with singing.
