Day 5 (9 December 2015) Delta Excursion

Good Morning!
We are just having breakfast and in about 30min we are on our way into the bush. We are going on a 2 night mobile camping safari into the Okavango Delta. Gerald, Carina and their 2 kids will join us on this safari. We will be going on mokoros (dugout canoes) and on nature walks.
After the camping safari we will fly into Moremi for another 2 nighs.
So you will only hear from us in about 5 days.

Day 4 (8 December 2015) Maun

The drive from Palapye to Maun was about 7 hours. The scenery was changing so many times. From green bushes passing through dry pans. the weather was just perfect. A bit overcast with some isolated raindrops. One needs to drive very carefully as there are so many animals on the roads.
I must say, we are very impressed how clean everything is and how friendly the people are.
We arrived in Maun by 2pm and checked in at Sitatunga camp, which belongs to Delta Rain. The camp is lovely and the owners Gerald and Carina and the staff are really nice and helpful

At Sitatunga Camp they offer campsites, Cabins with shared ablutions and Chalets. They have 2 swimming pools, a bar with restaurant, WiFi, etc.
At 3pm Carla and myself were driven to Royal Tree Lodge where we went over an hour on a horseback safari in a Private Game Reserve. We spotted giraffes, bucks, ostriches, etc. It was a great experience!
We returned back to camp by 18h30 and then prepared for our upcoming Delta Trip.

Day 3 (7 December 2015) entering Botswana

An early start got us to the border at 7am. An hour later we were in Botswana! We stopped in Gaborone to buy a B mobile Sim Card (we heard this one got the best coverage). From Gaborone we made our way towards Francistown. We stopped in Palapye where we spent the night at Camp Itumela, a pretty basic camp. We were lucky to get the only chalet that had Air-condition!
