Day 2 (6 December 2015) over Kimberley to Zeerust

Today we had another long drive ahead of us. We left Kambro Accommodation at 06h45 and checked into our accommodation at Zeerust at 3pm.
We stopped at Kimberley at the Big Hole and had a look where they found diamonds. The tour was quite interesting and also good to walk around a bit.

The drive from Kimberley to Zeerust over Mafikeng was pretty boring . We stopped at Vryburg to fill up but we were happy to be back in the car again. Temperatures were here over 40 degrees in the shade! 

The scenery changed quite often. From a very dry Karoo type to some lush and green just after Kimberley. Here we could see lots of olives and pecan nut trees. Mafikeng was just dry and hot again and very dirty. 

Lots of cows, donkeys, horses, goats and sheep next to the road so we had to drive very carefully. 

 Marico Bosveld Guesthouse is where we are staying tonight in Zeerust. Tomorrow morning we are crossing to Botswana!

Day 1 (5 December 2015) from Somerset West to Britstown

We left Somerset West at 06h20 in the morning and arrived at our first overnight place at 2pm. The road was great. No constructions, no potholes, not too busy - a breeze to drive.
We stayed at Kambro Accommodation in a little cottage. Luckily it had air-condition. I must say, I really do not like Aircon but here, you wouldn't be able to sleep without.
The place had a nice swimming pool with refreshing cold water - just what we needed.
It is a working farm and they sold lamb ribs for R70 per kg - we just could not resist. Yummy!
The sunset was stunning!

Einmal werden wir noch wach heissa dann ...... dann geht die Reise los

Bei ueber 35 Grad im Schatten haben wir heute das Auto gepackt und nun kann es losgehen.

Der Countdown laeuft

Aufregend! In 6 Tagen geht die Reise los.
Start ist Kapstadt. Von hier in 4 Tagen nach Maun. Ausflug in das Okavango Delta. Durch den Caprivi Strip in Namibia zum Chobe Nationalpark. Einmal Victoria Faelle sehen und erleben. Weihnachten in den Makgadikgadi  Pfannen und puenktlich zur Neujahrsparty sind wir wieder zu Hause.
Ca. 5000km in 23 Tagen!
Unser Auto (VW Amarok 4x4) wurde heute startklar gemacht. Nur noch die Taschen verstauen und dann kann es losgehen!
Wir wollen versuchen euch auf diesem Weg an unserer Reise teilhaben zu lassen. Internet Verbindung kann ein Problem sein aber warten wir es ab. Schaut einfach mal rein!
